The Best of Weird Al

This project reimagines a “Best Of” vinyl package for Weird Al Yankovic by using visual maximalism and character driven storytelling to capture the humor, chaos, and range of his career while maintaining a clear, cohesive layout. A collage of his iconic personas, anchored by a bold sunburst and vibrant color blocking, works with playful typography and interactive elements, like a hidden visual gag on the vinyl, to reflect his comedic brand and high-energy performances. The final design balances expressive visuals with structured layouts to create a nostalgic yet modern, collectible package that celebrates his legacy and personality.

How do you clearly and effectively communicate a deeply personal story, rooted in memory, family, and faith, in a way that feels structured, intentional, and understandable to an outside audience? Much research has to be done to really help people understand that person. Trying to find what sets them apart form everyone else and who they are as a person.
A Spread on
Johnny Cash
I grew up listening to Johnny Cash, and even though country music was never really my thing, there was always something about his voice and style that pulled me in. It wasn’t flashy or overproduced, it was steady, honest, and carried a kind of weight that you could feel. Even as a kid, I could tell there was something different about it. His music felt grounded, like it had a story behind it, and even if I didn’t fully understand it at the time, it stuck with me. When I was younger, I probably never would have chosen to put on a Johnny Cash record myself.
I had other artists and genres that I connected with more. But my dad loved his music, and I loved spending time with my dad. So Johnny Cash became the soundtrack to those moments, riding in the car, working on something together, or just being in the same space. Over time, the songs became tied to those memories, and I started to appreciate them in a way that went beyond just the music.
As I got older, I also learned more about Johnny Cash’s personal journey, especially his road to becoming a follower of Christ. Hearing about his struggles, his failures, and the way he turned back to faith gave his music an even deeper meaning for me. It showed me that faith isn’t about perfection, it’s about redemption, persistence, and grace. Knowing that part of his story made me respect him not just as an artist, but as a man who wrestled with life and chose to anchor himself in something greater. In a way, that realization connected back to my own upbringing and values, and it gave me another reason to appreciate the music that once simply reminded me of time spent with my dad.
Top Ten Magazine
For my project, I
focused on creating
an engaging and
visually appealing
publication that
combined strong
typography, effective
layout design, and clear
visual storytelling. I used
grid systems and typographic
hierarchy to organize content in a way that was both professional and easy to read. Through the careful placement of imagery, text, and supporting design elements, I developed a cohesive editorial experience that strengthened my publication design skills and demonstrated my ability to create polished, reader-friendly layouts.

Yeti Catalogue
The challenge was balancing a clean, professional layout with Yeti’s rugged, outdoorsy brand. I solved this by building each spread around product photography and pulling colors directly from the images, creating a cohesive and natural visual system. To keep the catalogue from feeling repetitive, I added user story features every two spreads, pairing large portraits with short testimonials. This created rhythm, reinforced authenticity, and made the catalogue more engaging.

Minecraft How
To Poster
There are so many different mods for the game Minecraft. It can be downright confusing how to get all of it to work together without breaking your game. Between choosing the right version of Minecraft, installing the correct mod loader like Forge or Fabric, and making sure every mod is compatible, it’s easy to get overwhelmed fast. On top of that, managing folders, dependencies, and updates can turn what should be a fun experience into a frustrating one.
