Font Study

My development in typography has been a progression from
simple observation to intentional design thinking. I started by
recreating and studying existing letterforms, which helped me
understand proportion, spacing, and consistency. Over time, I
moved beyond copying into building my own systems, using
grids, structure, and hierarchy to guide decisions. This shift
allowed me to think of type not just as letters on a page, but as
a functional design tool that carries tone, clarity, and purpose
within a layout.
As I continued to grow, I began experimenting more with voice
and personality in my type design, exploring how different
forms can communicate different moods, from industrial and
structured to abstract and expressive, to elegant and historical.
I’ve learned how details like weight, spacing, contrast, and
negative space can completely change how a typeface
feels and functions. Each project has pushed me to balance
creativity with legibility, helping me become more confident
in creating typography that is both visually engaging and
thoughtfully engineered.
